Market U dropped it’s first ever campus marketplace on uOttawa last Friday, and what an event it was!

We loved teaming up with Call Betty! on this #genius marketplace that brought the very best this city has to offer, right to The University of Ottawa campus. It was a day filled with rain, wind, and tornadoes (6, to be exact) but our awesome vendors and hundreds of shoppers stayed dry under the massive tent structure, right in the middle of the action on a busy campus Friday.

Students flocked to the trendy air plants and succulents from Beyond the House and stood in line to grab some local ‘booch from Vox Kombucha. Ruckify was busy educating on their incredible rent-anything solution, giving away adorable saplings and taking great photos. The ladies loved the Braid Bar by The Organic Salon and everyone was buzzing about Copper Branch opening soon on Albert St.

One of the highlights for us was meeting the great team from The Ottawa Mission, headed up by Chef Ric Allan-Waston, and learning why they are so much more than a shelter. Their Food Services Training Program provides those in need of support and job training with the skills to pursue a career in food services. Look at those delicious beetroot and quinoa tarts!

Thanks to all our student-lovin’ vendors for helping to make Market U a huge success and thank you to Paper Crane Studios for the photos.

The community including uOttawa students, staff and Sandy Hill residents loved browsing the Market U vendors, engaging in workshops like Free Yoga from PranaShanti and An Incredible Food Tour from Mandi Lunan and learning about some great local gems, right on their doorstep.

Market U will be back soon with another event to knock your socks off.
